A two hour workshop with 108 sun salutations to start the new year. The purpose behind this yoga tradition is to greet the new year with gratitude and lots of prana (energy). A rigorous practice to wipe the slate clean, renew oneself, and prepare for the new year. Before we started we all wrote down a Sankalpa which in Sanskrit is a positive affirmation to be used throughout the coming year. This is different from a resolution because we refrained from using any negative words like "I can't or won't do this or that" but a statement that affirms what you wish to create. It can be used anytime anywhere, it is usually repeated at least three times with gratitude and conviction. Mine this year is “May I be happy and open to what life brings me”.
